Riveting right aileron

Sat, May 16th 2009

Today Adam's and my schedules lined up and he came over to rivet "his" aileron. If this plane ends up with a heay wing, I know who gets the blame! ;-) We started out riveting the sitffeners to the skin, then bending the trailing edge. Next, we assembled the leading edge skin, counterbalance pipe and nose ribs. Then the nose ribs were riveted to the spar, and the assembly was clecoed, then riveted to the top of the trailing edge. The nose ribs were riveted to the top of the leading edge skin, then the A-705 end ribs were riveted to the top skin and the spar. We finished by riveting the bottom of the nose ribs to the bottom of the leading edge, the bottoms of the A-705's to the trailing edge skin, then blind riveting the bottom of the leading edge skin, spar, and trailing edge skin together. Lastly, we bolted the A-406 and A-407 to the spar.
